2026 KAY
October 22, 2026
The Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) is a character-building, leadership-training, and service
program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA). As a
student association completely unique to Kansas, our goal is to empower members to become
positive leaders, serve others, and leave their school and community better than they found them.
KAY club focuses on encouraging lifelong participation in service through well-organized
programs and projects. Our efforts are focused on four core areas: school, community, nation,
and world. Guided by our motto, “Today for Tomorrow,” we believe that the leadership and
service choices students make today directly shape a better future. Since 1988 our panther
students have consistently stepped up to make a difference. Here are just a few of our impactful
service projects:
1. Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat: Collecting donations for the Phillips County Food
Pantry.
2. 5th Grade PenPals: Building connections with local middle school students.
3. Panther Buddies: Reading and playing games with PES students.
4. Phillips County Nursing Home: Decorating the facility and sharing sugar cookies and
cozy socks with residents.
5. Operation Christmas Child: Packing 30+ boxes to send joy around the world for
Christmas.
6. Halloween Bash: Hosting a fun night of dancing and games at the middle school and
donating all proceeds made to Phillips County Food Pantry.
7. Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors: Organizing high-energy school spirit competitions at the
high school.
8. Easter Egg Hunt: Setting up a festive Easter egg hunt at PES and PHS.
9. Adopt A Family for Christmas: Providing gifts and holiday cheer to local families in
need.
10. Breakfast Buddies: Mentoring and getting to know PES students during their breakfast
time.
11. Kiss a Senior Goodbye: Celebrating our graduating classes with a sweet farewell.
